The Challenge

How can we ensure an efficient nutrient distribution to optimize crop growth, increase farmers’ profits and improve machine performance?

When it comes to fertiliser spreading, it’s all about precision. Our GEOSPREAD technology ensures an optimal fertiliser distribution with our RotaFlow dosing system. It places the right amount at the right place thanks to our weighing technology and it avoids overlap with the one-metre section control. But how do we make sure that the basic machine settings are always optimal? Kubota has the answer with the latest Kubota Tractor Implement Management (TIM) technology combined with the DSX-W GEOSPREAD TIM spreader.

The spreader takes control of the tractor with the Tractor Implement Management (TIM) technology and the help of two height sensors and a specially designed hydraulic top link. It monitors the tractor functionalities to ensure that the spreader is always at 75cm from the target, always at the right inclination and with the disc rotating at the set RPM. No need to bother with additional settings. The operator can focus fully on productivity.

What are the benefits of the Tractor Implement Management (TIM) Spreader?

The Solution

Tractor and implements working together in real-time

So how do you get tractors and implements to cooperate? Can they work as a team? At Kubota, we like to start with the human factor when we think about smart farming. That means the first beneficiary of new technologies should be the operator.

The Tractor Implement Management (TIM) Tractor and Spreader technology combines with the efficiency of our well-known GEOSPREAD to increase the overall tractor and spreader output and efficiency.

The implement takes control of the tractor functions, ensuring that the basic settings of the spreader are constantly monitored and adjusted independently from the weight in the hopper or the field conditions.

Thus, the Tractor Implement Management (TIM) tractor and spreader solution frees the driver from controlling most machine settings. Performance remains at the highest level.

Cross-manufacturer solution for farming equipment

We also believe we need to expand cooperation across the agriculture industry if we want to realize the full potential of smart farming. Therefore, we are a core member of the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF), an independent organization of important farming manufacturers and associations. Our goal is to improve cross-manufacturer compatibility of electronic and electric components in agricultural equipment.

We make sure, when connecting implements to tractors, farmers can expect ISOBUS devices to work according to plug & play principles. This means once the ISOBUS connection is established, data exchange is always possible. Not only for the manufacturer’s devices, but for equipment from different brands. Farming machines equipped with Tractor Implement Management (TIM) are AEF certified and comply with the organization’s specified legal safety regulations.

The overall operation quality in the field suffers if the tractor and implement do not work well together.

The People

Tractor Implement Management (TIM) with a Kubota tractor and disc spreader (DE) | #Kubota 2023

At Kubota, we like to start with the human factor when we think about smart farming. That means the first beneficiary of technological advance should be the operator. With Tractor Implement Management (TIM) onboard, the operator can automate a number of operations which need the coordination of the tractor and implement and thereby saves the operator a lot of repetitive and tiring work. In this video David explains Tractor Implement Management (TIM) with the Kubota tractor in combination with a disc spreader.

“The Kubota TIM spreader is precise, easy to use and enables us to save time during the spreading season”

“If I compare this spreader to the GEOSPREAD I'm already working with, I'd say that it improves comfort, especially when you're working on big farms. And it improves the spreading quality independently from the field shape and crop status.”

“If someone was hesitating today to invest in this type of technology, I would obviously say yes, go for it, because it's a "must have" system for the future, like automatic section control or variable rate control with prescription maps”

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Kubota Farming Tractor Implement Management (TIM) Spreader contributes to the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals of decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure as well as responsible consumption and production.
